The word “Track and Trace” has become so common, yet few writings actually have done justice to this deep underlying need of business. And rarely do we have a definition, quantification, of what it will actually yield in terms of benefits, although we all know it intuitively sounds right. Rich choices, discussion on what processes are actually and practically traceable—leading to true visibility, and quantification of value, all lead to lack of investment and implementation.

In the last year the ubiquity of mobile devices within several industries, employing differing standards and new applications, has resulted in astounding growth, even in a down economy.

In addition, Location Based Services (LBS) allows the mobile world—smart phones—with RFID and Barcode scanners (2D and QR codes) to provide location, context, and human input to communications.

Here we want to review processes. There is much to talk about. We have up-to-date information to add to the dialogue.
