Recently we wrote in our post The Evolution of Descartes about Descartes’ growing presence in ecommerce, with their acquisition of pixi*. So, their latest addition of ShipRush is a smart move to grow their presence there as well as supporting the midmarket merchant. Though this investment would not make the headlines on Squawk Box, it is an important investment in the growing online shopping and fulfillment world.
When one looks at the continued growing power of Amazon vs the shrinking of Macy’s, the largest apparel and general merchandizer in the country, the ability to be online and provide seamless, exceptional fulfillment is paramount.
Midsize companies, who often partner with larger ecommerce sites, need not be left out of high-end capabilities to serve their customers. In addition, the cost burden today, with so much free shipping, can sink a smaller business without the tools to manage fulfillment costs. ShipRush provides these capabilities as well as integration to so many merchant sites, making implementation and time to value attractive for the small business.
